Diego Fortes is considered one of the most promising young theatre artists in Brazil. Distinguished with the Shell Award for Best Author in 2017, his works include several original plays as playwright and director. Focused mainly in Contemporary Theatre, his choices display a wide range of different themes and tones, being known for his metalinguistic references and a strong use of live music. One of his last productions, “Molière”, told the story of the famous French author with an adapted Caetano Veloso score, praised by Caetano himself. Besides his original work, Diego researches other Latin artists as the Argentinian Lola Arias (“Poses For Sleeping”) and the Chilean Guillermo Calderón (“December”) – translating and directing both plays.
